Obverse 42 is observed with date placement at RE. Obverse 42 has
developed heavy die flow lines and has acquired clash marks in front of
the eye of Miss Liberty and above the first three feathers.
Reverse AP is rotated 7 degrees clockwise and is in a similar die state
as Obverse 42, with the advancement of heavy die flow lines.
Reverse AP has acquired clash marks through the C of CENT and to
the right of the denomination from a clashing event with Obverse 42.
Reverse AP develops the following die cracks: 1.
Die crack from the rim at 7:15 through the bottom of the wreath
to the rigth of the ribbon knot. Another die crack extends from
this die crack connecting the lowest and middle olive leaves. 2.
Light die crack extends from crack #1 at the top of the wreath
stem and extends downward along the right side of the wreath stem to
the rim at 5:00.
Comments: Variety 37 was
first identified by Paul Nomes, who submitted the above plate coin
during early November 2018 for inclusion in this book based on the die
