Obverse 5 is identified by date placement at C with repunching to the
south on the 18 and a possible misplaced digit in the denticles below
the 9 of the date. Obverse 5 has developed moderately heavy to heavy
die flow lines and has acquired a clash mark in front of the eye from a
clashing event with Reverse E.
Reverse
E is in a similar die state as Obverse 5, with the advancement of
moderately heavy to heavy die flow lines. Reverse E has acquired
a clash mark through the C of CENT from a clashing event with Obverse 5.
Comments: The Obverse 5
possible misplaced digit features curvature similar to that of the top
of an 8 or 9, with a location in the denticles directly below the 9 of
the date.
Variety 3 was first identified by David Killough, who
submitted the above plate coin during early October 2016 for inclusion
in this book based on the Obverse 5 date repunching and possilbe
misplaced digit.
