Obverse 1 is identified by date placement at LE and excessively polished base of the first feather and eye socket.

1872 Type II Reverse A is identified by a bulging right pennant on the T of CENT.

Comments:  The 1873 Close 3 Proof 1 die pairing was the only die pairing striking proof cents in 1873.

1872 Type II Reverse A was initially in service during the 1872 Proof 1 Die Pairing.
