Clashed Profile of Miss LIBERTY

Radial Die Crack from 1:45


Obverse 9 is identified by date placement at LE and date repunching that features initial date impressions to the south below the tops of the 8, 6 and 5.  Obverse 9 has acquired clash marks in front of the portrait and has developed textured surfaces due to die erosion.

Reverse AAI has acquired clash marks of the profile of Miss LIBERTY to the left of the denomination from a clashing event with Obverse 9.  Reverse AAI has developed the following die crack:
1.  Light radial die crack from the denticles at 1:45 extending toward the E of of ONE.

Comments:  Obverse 9 was previously in service paired with Reverse I during the 1865 Plain 5 Variety 7 Die Pairing.
